"When we started, what I had in
mind wasn't piles of clothing
stuffed into plastic bags. It
was clothing that I would wear
or that my friends would wear,
clean and neatly pressed and on
hangers."
--Jane Devol, Ministry founder
The
Smith Chapel Clothes Closet is
open to the public every
Wednesday and Friday
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The clothing is inspected
and sorted by gender and size.
All items are 50 cents each.
Clothing is free for those who
are unable to pay.
The Clothes Closet is totally
nonprofit. Volunteers staff the
store and process the clothing.
Proceeds from sales go toward
payment of utility bills for the
facility, the use of which is
kindly donated by a member of
the congregation.
Donations of new or clean,
gently used clothing are
welcome. We have a particular
need for children's clothes,
larger adult sizes, and warm
winter items. We also accept good used
furniture and household items.
